so i've been wondering how to keep my betta tank.. really little, like 5-7 litres.. how to keep it warm in the winter? i had the idea of using an infrared lamp?? anyone think it might work?? please i'm really worried about him!Advice about a betta!!?
I never have trusted using a lamp for a heat source. Theres no way to regulate the heat. The best thing to do is up grade to a 2.5 gallon tank and get a hydro mini heater. I believe that will be better then a 5 L tank. A true tank heater is the only real way to keep his water warm and him healthy.Advice about a betta!!?
A very weak heat lamp is something to consider for a tank that is so tiny that a regualar heater won't fit. However, if you are going to go this route, do so with caution. I would keep the height of the light well away from the water---small amounts of water heat up and cool down very quickly, changes which would most certainly kill your fish-- and you don't want to water to go above normal room temperature either.
It would just be easier to upgrade, there are cheap 5 gallon starter kits out there. good luck
a bigger tank is the best thing, and least 2.5 gallons, then you can buy a heater at a pet store and keep it from 76-82.. probably 78 degrees being best. and your betta with be perfectly happy.
simply just get a bigger tank. He will be happier any ways. then you can just buy a fish tank heater for about 20 dollars and put it in the big tank with him. that is the easiest way to go.
hiya 5 liters is just fine aslong as you do daily 20% water changes yes you can use a infrad lamp. bettas can survice in rom temerature be sure to feed your beeta 2 a day with 1 flake each feed
You need to get a 20+ litre aquarium with a filter and an aquarium heater.
